Scuba Diving Moreton Island, Brisbane, Australia
Dive Site: The Pines
Location: Inside Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Australia
Description: Drift dive
Depth: 5 - 15 metres (16 - 50 feet)
Visibility: 2 - 5 metres (6 - 15 feet)
Rating: ***
This is a reasonably slow drift dive along a ledge that starts off at 15 metres and gradually gets shallower as the dive progresses. The silty nature of the seabed means the vis is very low here, but there is still plenty to see. Along the ledge there are a few boulders and undercuts which marine life shelter around. Wobbegong sharks are common and swimming along the top of the ledge are stingrays. We also saw a lot of large batfish and some groupers.
I quite enjoyed this dive being used to UK visibility and conditions but I'm not so sure that it went down as well with some if the others on the boat who were used to sparkling coral seas!
