Dive Site: Eidsvold Wreck
Location: Christmas Island, Australia
Description: Wreck dive
Depth: 0 - 12 metres (0 - 40 feet)
Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)
Rating: ***
Sunk by a Japanese submarine in WWII the Norwegian phosphate ship Eidsvold was scuttled in the cove and later dragged around Smith Point to its final resting place. Half of the structure is accessible at 5-18m, the rest went over the edge and lies somewhere in the deep below. Now home to a healthy coral colony and millions of colourful tropical fish, the remains of this old hulk is a very interesting site to explore.
