Dive Site: Sons Xog

Location: Sons Xoriguer Beach, Menorca

Description: Reef with cave and swim-throughs

Depth: 2 - 17 metres (6 - 55 feet)

Visibility: 30 metres (100 feet)

Rating: ****

Nice easy dive for try dives and novice divers alike. Also a nice check dive for qualified divers. The dive begins from a short slipway at Sons Xoriguer Beach in a depth of 2m. We swim left over the seagrass and then with the seagrass on our right make our way along the sandy seabed till we get a depth of about 5m. Look out for octopus in little rocky outcrops along the seabed here.

Upon reaching a buoy chain we then head right over the seagrass towards the coastline. There are lots of sunken areas here to explore you will encounter sea bream, rainbow wrasse etc. Returning to the beach we keep the coastline on our right where we have some nooks and crannies to explore and an easy swim through in about 4m of water. Then its back over some seagrass to the sandy entry area for our exit. Can have a swell if the wind is blowing but an easy dive for experienced divers.
