Scuba Diving in Lanzarote
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Lava Caves
Location: Mala, Lanzarote
Description: Shore dive
Depth: 15 metres average (50 feet), 60 metres max (200 feet)
Visibility: 25 metres (80 feet)
Rating: ***
We descended to the pipes which were formed by an underwater volcanic lava flow from the extinct volcano about three miles inland. We went down past and over the top of the lava flow that looked like a giant pipe on the sandy background. There was some vegetation, many fish, barracuda and jacks. We were pointed to an underwater island with a cave, where we saw a large moray deep at the back of the overhang. The bay is protected from currents once you are below 4 metres, but some of the less fit divers had a bit of a problem climbing out of the water using the steps.
