Scuba Diving in Bonaire, Caribbean
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: La Machaca
Location: West coast of Bonaire, off Captain Don's Habitat
Description: Reef dive from the shore
Depth: 14 - 40 metres (46 - 130 feet)
Visibility: 30 metres (100 feet)
Rating: ****
This is a shore dive that can be made from the jetty of Captain Don's Habitat. You go into the water along a rope until you reach the reef, then go left and you get to an overturned fishing boat. All the fish are really tame. We saw three morays swimming free in the water, very large tuna fish, scorpionfish and boxfish.
There were beautiful corals along this stretch, big lilac stovepipe corals, gorgonian fans and elephant ear sponges. The sea was very calm and clear.
