Scuba Diving in Cuba, Caribbean

Dive Site: Cadena Misteriosa (Channel of Mystery)

Location: Maria la Gorda, Cuba

Description: Wall / reef

Depth: 30 metres + (100 feet)

Visibility: 40 metres (130 feet)

We started off by heading through a tunnel that took us out onto the wall. The wall itself dropped off into the abyss and was fantastic to amble along next to, experiencing the feeling of weightlessness. Lots of jacks swam right underneath us and a few barracuda lurked close to the surface. At one point deeper down on the wall (possibly around 40m) there was a barrel sponge nearly 2 metres tall - so large it must have been hundreds of years old. There were other tunnels to explore as well but the wall was the dive highlight. The dive ends on the coral garden on top of the wall that is home to all the normal reef life.
