Dive Site: Salon de Maria (Maria's Lounge)

We started the dive off in a cavern (Maria's lounge) in the reef formed by a hole in the rock. It was a bit too small to fit all 8 or so of us in and the lack of coral or sponge growth around the cave except for a few whip corals trailing from the ceiling reflected the fact that divers frequently hit the sides of the cave, preventing anything from becoming attached to them. Outside of the cavern the reef itself is interspersed with sandy patches and there was a lot of dead coral around, damaged by Hurricane Ivan. The start of the dive was quite uneventful, but towards the end friendly triggerfish and yellowtail snapper came out in force, swimming right up to have a good look at us, presumably in the hope that we might be bringing them some food. The only other thing of note was the huge green moray lying under a rock.
