Scuba Diving in Tobago, Caribbean
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Book Ends
Location: South of Little Tobago
Description: Reef / drift
Depth: 24 metres (79 feet)
Visibility: 30 metres (100 feet)
Rating: ****
The Book Ends are two granite rocks that break the surface of the water. The beginning of the dive starts at a bowl-shape reef with gently sloping sides and waves crashing overhead. The diving is very good with plenty of life. I saw some large barracuda and tarpon feeding, as well as Queen and French angelfish, some shrimps, grunts, goatfish, scorpionfish and cowfish. The shrimps were really noisy at the start of the dive! On a second dive at this site the current was really ripping so it was tough to get into the bowl and we had to give up and drift off of the reef. We ended up surfacing miles away and the boat cover took a while to find us. Because of the strong currents I would not recommend this site to inexperienced divers.
