This seamount is quite exposed and we tried to get there on one occasion and had to turn back. However, we kept on trying during the week and were greatly rewarded for our efforts. I had the best dive of my life so far here, the number of hammerheads was just mind boggling. They literally were everywhere and even the guide was impressed by the end of the dive. We started off by dropping onto the top of the reef and waiting at the cleaning stations where we were rewarded with continual swim-bys. There was quite a surge going on and I was actually sick through my reg on one of the dives, which I mention because after that one of the toothy Mexican hogfish just wouldn't leave me alone - guess he liked the taste of the sea around me!
We swam a little into the blue where there were so many hammers I just couldn't quite believe my eyes. There was also an immense shoal of jacks accompanying us and the occasional wahoo and tuna. We headed back to the shot and as we hung there for a few minutes doing our safety stops the hammers just kept on coming and coming. Unbelievable! Throughout the dive we could hear dolphins (which was the same on a lot of the sites) and on the way back in they were swimming around the boat so we jumped in with them, but they lost interest after a few minutes.
