As you head out of Chatham Bay past the rocky island of Manuelita, you will travel over the channel which you are about to dive in. The dive starts by dropping onto the seaward side of Manuelita before heading anticlockwise round into the channel. There is a hammerhead cleaning station on the Manuelita wall, but we never saw more than one or two hammerheads here, but perhaps we were just unlucky. We did see a single blacktip, loads of white tip reef sharks (as with all Cocos dives), marble rays, eagle rays, morays and lobsters. To get past the channel back to Manuelita Garden involves fighting the current somewhat and good air consumption. I have to confess that I gave up, preferring to stay where I was and enjoy watching the rays rather than making the effort in the current!
