Scuba Diving Cocos Island, Costa Rica

Dive Site: Punta Maria

Location: Cocos Island, Costa Rica

Description: Submerged reef

Depth: 20 - 30 metres (65 - 100 feet)

Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)

Rating: *****

Punta Maria is a submarine plateau with the top at around the 20m mark. There are a few sandy patches (where inevitably white tips are resting) and plenty of marble rays swimming or lying on the reef. There were a lot of moray eels too. The hammerheads did show here, but they weren't as close up as some of the other sites, but there were still plenty of them! There was also a silky shark which cruised past.
