Scuba Diving in Costa Rica

Dive Site: El Arco

Location: Isla del Cano, Costa Rica

Description: Sandy reef

Depth: 10 - 18 metres (30 - 60 feet)

Visibility: 5 - 10 metres (15 - 30 feet)

There was quite a turbulent current here, not so strong that you couldn't swim against it, but enough to make you really have to swim for it to get between the rocky outcrops. Unfortunately this was just one of those dives where all the odds are stacking against you making the most of the site. Some bad divers, low vis, washing machine current and a dive guide on a mission meant the site didn't live up to the potentially excellent site it could have been on another day. That said, we did come across lobsters, a tiny moray eel and a turtle. Our guide claimed to have seen white tips and stingrays, but he was far enough ahead of us that by the time we had brought up the rear they were long gone.
