Dive Site: Side Street

Location: Beqa Lagoon, Pacific Harbour

Description: Reef

Depth: 20 metres (66 feet)

Visibility: 25 metres (80 feet)

This dive site shows what Fiji is famous for, its large beautiful gorgonian sea fans and plentiful colourful soft corals. There are a nice array of colours and rock forms on this relaxed reef dive. Many swim throughs and coral bommies that are covered with anemones and anemone fish to explore. However I am not impressed with the dive guide who grabbed a brown spotted pufferfish and scared him so he puffed up and then passed it to every diver to touch - I did not participate and remained irritated for the rest of the dive. It saddens me to see the people who live and depend on the reefs not fully understanding the fragility of the reef creatures.
