Scuba Diving in Fiji
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Mana Wall
Location: Western side of Mana Island, the Mamanucas
Description: Wall dive
Depth: 14m (45 feet)
Visibility: 30 metres (100 feet)
Rating: ***
People are often a little dubious about dive sites that are close to a dive shop. There seems to be some feeling that "The further you go the better the diving". This has always baffled me somewhat - surely one would choose the location for a dive shop precisely because of its proximity to good diving...
Mana Island's fringing reef has created a lagoon on its western side, the interior of which is used for topside watersports and also as a location for confined-water diver training. The outside edge of the lagoon wall drops off to 30m+ although most of the life is in the top half of the water column and as such is great for a repetitive dive after a deeper first. The wall has many outcropping spurs and all are home to plentiful marine life. Night dives here are as colourful as those during the day with feather stars coming out in force. Nelly the white tip will usually escort you along the wall, day and night, it's hers after all!

This was one of the dives I undertook as part of my Level One course and partly to blame for the diving bug that has bitten me.
I would highly recommend a night dive here, as Rick said, as the fish are out in droves and such magnificent colours. It has that eerie quality and you do consider that you've plunged into someone else's kingdom as merely a guest.
Immense.
The dive staff on Mana Island are definitely some of the best around!
