Scuba Diving in Taveuni, Fiji
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: The Great White Wall I
Location: Rainbow Reef, Taveuni, Fiji
Description: Reef / drift
Depth: 15 - 40 metres + (50 - 130 feet)
Visibility: 10 - 40 metres (30 - 130 feet)
Rating: ****
The Great White Wall is typically a drift dive and not the best dive for any first time or inexperienced drift divers as currents are moderate to strong and surface conditions can get rough. A coral incrusted swim through leads onto the wall from the reef top. In the wall there is a cave full of soft coral, gorgonian fans and schools of fish taking refuge from the brisk current hurtling outside. Rainbow Reef's top draw is its soft coral and once outside the cave there is the show of a brilliant white wall of soft coral covering the wall, something that words cannot really give justice to. Once you get close, the white turns to blue and a torch will pick up red.
