Scuba Diving in Fiji
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Black Magic Mountain
Location: Vatu-i-Ra Passage
Description: Coral Pinnacle
Depth: 5 - 35 metres (16 - 115 feet)
Visibility: 30 metres + (100 feet)
Rating: ***
This is a classic Vatu-i-Ra dive; a pinnacle rising from the blue with relentless currents ensuring plenty of soft corals and schooling fish. This particular pinnacle is named after the huge bushes of black coral that blanket much of its lower walls. Finning into the current (and going nowhere much!) divers will always be rewarded with plenty of the action. Grey reef sharks are often present amongst the surgeons, unicorns and swirling fusiliers. A closer look reveals crayfish, lionfish, anemonefish, beautiful coral trout, a plethora of ascidians and lots of other treasures.
