Scuba Diving Vomo Island, Fiji
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Great Wall of China
Location: Just off Vomo Island, Fiji (17°28.791S; 177°15.569E)
Description: Reef
Depth: 18 metres (60 feet)
Visibility: 25 metres (80 feet)
Rating: ***
On the tip of a strip of reef lying two minutes off Vomo's north-facing beach this mooring is sunken so as not to give the local fisherman an easier job than they already have! This dive site consists of one large bommie with its base at 12m and then another which is separated by no more than 2 metres and is just like the Great Wall of China except that it's submerged, can't be seen from space and was made by jellyfish. It has 2.63 imperial tonnes of yellow tailed fusiliers schooling around it and is home to many extremely photogenic marine creatures... I just haven't got enough batteries for my camera right now as one of them has gone duff and I'm on an island in the middle of nowhere!
