Scuba Diving in Baltimore, County Cork, Ireland, Europe
Dive Site: Kedge Island Bay
Location: Northeast of Kedge Island, County Cork, Ireland, Europe
Description: Kelp forest
Depth: 8 - 13 metres (26 - 43 feet)
Visibility: 5 metres (15 feet)
Rating: ***
We dived here hoping to see the seals that live around the Kedges but unfortunately didn't come across any whilst underwater. Instead we swam through the kelp forest and amongst boulders where there was a proliferation of life. In almost every crack in the rocks we looked in we saw crabs, lobsters, blennies and sea scorpions. We disturbed a huge dogfish in the kelp that we hadn't even noticed until he moved. On the kelp itself we also saw a sea spider and a nudibranch and jewel and plumose anemones covered all the rocks. A fantastic dive site for those who like marine life.
