Scuba Diving at Sipadan Island, Borneo
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Mid Reef
Location: Sipadan Island
Description: Reef
Depth: 30 metres (100 feet)
Visibility: 30 metres (100 feet)
Rating: ****
Mid Reef, located south of White Tip Avenue is a continuation of the deep wall and boasted some of the best coral formations we saw in Sipadan with black coral, gorgonian sea fans and knotted fan corals covering the slopes around 20m - 30m. As we ascended the sheer wall there were plate, or table corals and in the top 8m as the reef curves over towards the beach there were green tree corals, cabbage corals and all manner of stony corals. We saw white-tip reef sharks cruising in small groups in the shallows and stayed to admire the green and hawksbill turtles.
