Scuba Diving in The Maldives
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Embudu Canyon
Location: South Male Atoll
Description: Reef / drift
Depth: 10 - 30 metres (30 - 100 feet)
Visibility: 25 metres (80 feet)
Rating: ****
Embudu Canyon (sometimes spelt Embudhoo) is a huge part of the reef that has collapsed to make a 50 - 70ft wide gap in the reef. The fish life that congregates here is prolific with perhaps the highest concentration of fish I have seen on any dive in the Maldives. Huge shoals of fusiliers being chased by trevallys and tuna, very good sized surgeonfish, batfish and various rock cod. We also saw a good sized shark at depth which I presume was a reef shark. We saw a huge shoal of snapper to about 50m. A very nice and enjoyable dive.
