Dive Site: Lionfish Reef

Location: South Male Atoll

Description: Reef

Depth: 17 metres (56 feet)

Visibility: 15 metres (50 feet)

This reef didn't hold any spectacular sightings until thirty minutes into the dive when there were some eagle rays at the limit of the visibility. As I swam away from the reef towards them, they veered in towards the reef and split up. As I looked back to the reef to watch them I saw three big stingrays and some cuttlefish. As I turned to end the dive an eagle ray went over my head.
