Description: 5,831 ton passenger / cargo vessel

Length: 116 metres (385 feet)

Depth: Max depth 63 metres (207 feet), 50 metres (165 feet) to deck, 45 metres (150 feet) to top of wreck

Visibility: 25 metres (80 feet)

The San Francisco Maru is an awesome wreck. I headed across the bridge to the tanks - one is on the portside and two are on the starboard side. I dropped into hold 2 where there are tankers and trucks. A stingray was on the deck as I came out again and there were two eagle rays in the blue. In hold 1 there are boxes of detonators and stacks of mines.

We dived the SF Maru on April 13th, 2008. Words can not describe this dive. It is truly an awe-inspiring dive. If you are thinking of visiting Truk....stop thinking about it...do it!
