Location: Between Param and Weno, Chuuk Lagoon

Description: 6,438 ton 6-hold freighter / passenger liner

Length: 133 metres (439 feet)

Depth: Max depth 34 metres (110 feet), 30 metres (98 feet) to top of wreck

Visibility: 15 metres (50 feet)

The viz was worse on the Yamagiri Maru than on other dives I had in Truk at about 15m. The wreck lies on its port side with two twin masts reaching out. The 6 holds are large and open enough to swim into. On the mast there were clownfish in their anemones on the masts. The large intact propeller and the immense keel are encrusted in hard and soft coral. In the engine room there was a skull embedded into the overhead space and in the rear holds there are some huge 14 inch shells. The huge torpedo hole is in the keel by hold 3.
