Scuba Diving in the Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan, the Red Sea
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Al Shorouk
Location: N29°26'56.43"; E34°58'16.63", Jordan
Description: Wreck
Depth: 6 - 90 metres (20 - 300 feet)
Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)
Rating: ****
This wreck lies west to east on her starboard side across two reefs. As such, depths of over 60m can easily be reached under the wreck. She was scuttled by the Aqaba Marine Park on 18th June 2008 and although intended for shallower water she drifted and could have easily ended up in over 100m of water. However, they managed to push her back in to diveable depths just before she slipped beneath the waves, creating a new and exciting site for technical divers visiting Aqaba and making an addition to the other technical diving wreck, the Taiyong. There is a buoy on the bow of the wreck for descent and after a tour around it is best to travel to the north for decompression up at the famous M42 Duster tank in 6m to avoid long blue water hangs.
Dive Aqaba
A great wreck. Dived it on both open circuit trimix and on CCR trimix.
