Scuba Diving in the Red Sea
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: The MFO Pipeline
Location: Nuweiba
Description: Ex-Israeli Desalination Plant
Depth: Surface to 20 metres (0 - 65 feet)
Visibility: 5 - 20 metres (15 - 65 feet)
Rating: ***
To the north of the Coral Hilton Hotel, just past the dive site of Outer Hilton Reef and the Sinkers, an Israeli Desalination plant that was never used has two pipelines running from the beach into 18m of water. Visibility can be poor if the wind is blowing, as this is a shore dive. When visibility is good you will find many lionfish around the pipeline and fine soft coral growth on the pipeline. After spending about 15-20 minutes around the pipeline the guide will head off on a bearing and take you to a small reef where you will find hard and soft corals and grouper and all the usual suspects the Red Sea has to offer. Finish the dive at around 5 metres for your safety stop looking in the seagrass for small critters like pygmy seahorses.
