Scuba Diving in the Red Sea
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Ras Amira / Topaz
Location: Taba
Description: Reef
Depth: 8 - 30 + metres (26 - 100 feet)
Visibility: 15 - 30 metres (50 - 100 feet)
Rating: ***
A couple of dive sites from the Red Sea resort of Taba. Diving here is easy: Red Sea, 30 minutes by hard boat, shorty, little weight and easy navigation. There is plenty of colourful, small tropical life to be found plus small tuna, turtles and eagle rays. There is the chance of seeing dolphins but not much other big stuff. The watersports Center and hotels here are great; very friendly, but still developing. The diving is nice, but we had just as much fun snorkelling straight from the beach where there are several jetties and pathways through the coral, we also saw more rays, turtles and varied life. Recommended for divers holidaying with non-divers, wanting a couple of days underwater.

I have just come back from my first "holiday" dives (Nov '06). My husband and I spent 3 days boat diving via Red Sea Waterworld. The friendly, family atmosphere made us feel more welcome, and less uncomfortable.
The dive sites themselves, Ras Amira being one of them, had varied marine life and various different colours under the surface were out of this world. Would recommend.
