Scuba Diving in Sharm El Sheikh, Red Sea
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Middle Gardens
Location: Sharm El Sheikh
Description: Reef
Depth: 6 - 15 metres (20 - 49 feet)
Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)
Rating: ****
Middle Garden is located east of Na'ama Bay and the Near Garden. Like Near Garden it has a gentle slope which falls away to 20-25m and is a combination of sand and colourful coral formations and outcrops. There are a number of large boulder type outcrops boasting yellow waver coral (which looks like a giant lettuce) as well as raspberry coral and cone coral. A nice way to dive this site is to head east at the deeper part of your dive and then return at around 6m, where there is a proliferation of small fish life.

I have dived this site many times whilst working in Sharm and it never ceases to amaze me. From open water divers on their 2nd dive seeing whale sharks, to the eagle rays in the blue, don't ask me why people turn their nose up at diving it again, every dive is different.
I dived the Gardens again in December '05 and they are showing marked signs of improvement in the coral and life even Near Garden is picking up again slowly.
Currently out in the Red Sea again as a guide and there are new moorings in the Gardens allowing for slightly different dives now. Still good in my opinion especially for 1st timers.

I dived this site 3 times in April 2007 and for me this is a nice place for beginners... lots of fish, good view and nice corals. You also have several small pockets that you can enter where beautiful fishes are hiding/eating/resting/nesting. Saw a white tip reef shark as well on the 3rd dive. Great!

Excellent dive, want to go back every day. Saw a 13m whale shark whilst training. Amazing, love it.
