Fun and interesting dive, always loads going on. Schooling pelagics overhead. The cryptic part of the name comes from the hard to find leaf crocodile fish that abound plus an assortment of lion and scorpionfish. An array of pipefish and ribbon eels make it a macro photographers haven. Easy access from boat or shore, best dived on slack water.

A frequently-used second dive inside the Mtwara Harbour Bay. Starting at the dhow anchorage a few hundred metres inside the entrance, you drift dive along the sandbanks edging the deep water channel at an average depth of only 5 metres, on the incoming tide with its clean water. Small coral rock outgrowths abound and the miniature life that unfolds as you gently drift past is fascinating. I really loved this dive and did it several times, it has almost convinced me to get an underwater camera! The last dive here was my personal longest ever on a 10 litre tank at 56 minutes, obviously due to the shallow depth. The end of the drift and surfacing area is a short distance from the deep-water quay. If one ship at a time is in harbour, then it's crowded, so don't worry about getting run down by a freighter!
