Scuba Diving in Turkey
Reader Reviews:
Dive Site: Molla Ibrahim
Location: Kargi Harbour, Bodrum, Turkey
Description: Reef / wall
Depth: 15 - 30 metres (50 - 100 feet)
Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)
Rating: **
Molla Ibrahim, located to the east of Kargi Harbour, was not the most inspiring of dives in terms of the marine life or underwater topography. Having moored the main dive boat near the shore we executed an 'out and back' dive around the point. As we entered we were met by the now familiar fields of seagrass and as we got to the outside of the point there was a deeper wall which seemed strangely devoid of marine life and plant growth. Amongst the large boulders on the sea wall there were occasional silver bream and a few wrasse and quite a few spiny urchins. As we headed back we spotted a big-eye hiding in the rocks, a spotted doris and a few tiny yellow tube sponges. There was no current here when we dived but it would have been good if we could have used the dive tender to drop us further around the point in deeper water before making a 'one way' dive back to the main dive boat.
