Scuba Diving South Coast England, UK, Europe
Dive Site: Old Harry
Location: Ballard Point, northeast of Swanage Bay
Description: Drift
Depth: 11 metres (36 feet)
Visibility: 5 - 15 metres (15 - 50 feet)
Rating: ***
The visibility varies depending on the time of year and conditions, but you will nearly always find something to see here. If the visibility is bad concentrate on looking for detail such as hermit crabs and their trails and snails passing over the rocks. If the visibility is good you might see plenty of life including cuttlefish, plaice, wrasse and dogfish as well as lobster pots that might have some catches. You should use an SMB so that boat cover can track your progress.
My first open water dive. It was an amazing experience. As a beginner, I would definitely recommend it as a perfect site for first time divers, felt very safe with the experienced boat operators.
