Scuba Diving in Skye, Scotland
Dive Site: Wiay Island
Location: Loch Bracadale, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Description: Wall dive
Depth: 16 metres (52 feet)
Visibility: 6 metres (20 feet)
Rating: ***
A slightly better site than Rubha Nan Clach, but again it doesn't compare to those out in the Minch. The scenery here was more varied and interesting with some big boulders creating crevices ranging from just big enough for a crab to a few large enough for a diver to fit into. A chain of lobster pots were here when we dived this site which were roped together and provided a good reference point for the direction to follow (southeast) away from open sea. They also provided the opportunity to see some lobsters and edible crabs, if not in ideal conditions! The usual kelp forest gave way to dead men's fingers, plumose anemones and sponges, with starfish and sea urchins in abundance.
