Scuba Diving in Cyprus

Reader Reviews:

Dive Site: Green Bay

Location: 35°00'1.20"N; 34°04'2.90"E, Cyprus

Description: Reef dive

Depth: 1 - 10 metres (3 - 30 feet)

Visibility: 20 metres (65 feet)

Rating: *

This is an ideal site for absolute beginners and can be regarded as a "sheltered open water" location. And to be perfectly frank that's about all it's any use for as a dive site. There is ample parking adjacent to the bay and it is not a serious off road scramble to get there. The bay has a sandy seabed with little of interest aside from the occasional tiny hermit crab or juvenile fish. At around 1 metre to 10 metres throughout its range and sheltered from all but the worst weather it is a good training ground.

As a novice we dived here with Sharkeys Dive Shack. There were loads of fish, we were one to one with friendly instructors and really felt just like pals taking pals on an adventure. It's got me hooked.

I was involved in a project to make Green Bay more interesting for all. The addition of some statues and columns make the dive site more pleasureable. If you dive at Green Bay take plenty of bread in a bag with you. You will be engulfed by a wide variety of fish feeding on the bread. I have been night diving at Green Bay also and the dive was fantastic!!! It was eerie, quiet, and when we shone light on the statues/columns it looked magical/mystical. Green Bay is well worth a dive day or night and there is always helpful dive center instructors to give you any info you need on the site.

We did our Open Water Course at this site with Alpha Divers, what a sweet Open Water Dive 1 it was, it's great for Discover Scuba (aparently they bring most of their 1st timers here) but what a great site with loads of fish, who love snickers bars of all things :) & what a great course. Loved every minute of it. Great equipment, great vehicles and awesome instructors (all girls, happy days) :)
